3) Charing Alderbed Meadow Free Events 2007

View on Charing Alderbed and Wetland MeadowCharing Alderbed and Wetland Meadow Free Events 2007 (please see bottom of page for directions etc):

  • Sunday 1st July 10am - 2pm
    Workland Workshop & Wild Art Day
    The woodland workshop will be led by woodland craftsman making a variety of different woodland products.
    (Open to children of all ages)
  • Saturday 4th August 9am onwards
    Mammal Surveying
    An expert from the Kent Mammal Group will teach you all you need to know about small mammal surveying including trapping and tracking. (Open to all ages, but young children will not be able to handle the animals
  • Saturday 18th August 8pm
    Bat Watch and Moth trapping evening
    This family event will be lead by experts. The Kent Bat Group will talk about bats and show you how to use bat detectors. A moth expert will show you how harmless light traps are used to attract beautiful and spectacular moths from around the site. (Bring a torch)
  • Saturday 29th September 10.30am - 12.30pm
    Autumnal Walk
    Join us in a stroll around the site, taking in all the delights of autumn and learning all about natures harvest, wild edible plants and weird and wonderful fungi.
  • Saturday 27th October 10am - 2pm (Training Event)
    Coppicing Event
    Try your hand at coppicing, following a demonstration of how to do it. Suitable for all ages. Certificate of attendance for everyone who takes part.

For all events, please note the following:
* Meet in the new car park (access via Pett Lane)
* Please book a place for all events on 01233 - 813307. All events are free of charge.
* All children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
* Please wear sturdy footwear as the paths may be uneven and wet.
* Light refreshments will be provided for all events unless otherwise stated.
* Disabled participants - contact the organisers (Kentish Stour Countryside Project 01233 813307) to make arrangements.
* No toilet facilities on site. The nearest are in the village (about a 5-10 minute walk away).
* Sorry, no dogs.
