Junkers Classic Beech (reclaimed)

Junkers Classic Beech (reclaimed)

Story:
"I bought some reclaimed Junckers Sylvaket Classic beech 22mm thick flooring. It had been installed in a college in Bolton within the previous year, but following some water damage, it was all taken up and advertised on eBay.

After I'd laid the floor, I tried sanding it myself, as it was rather scratched and otherwise marked, but hand-held belt sanders don't do the job well enough and a whole weekend's work was wasted. I then engaged a professional to sand it, and I finished it myself with four coats of Wickes clear satin floor varnish - which seems to be holding up quite well so far. It's easy to apply, largely odour-free, doesn't darken the wood like a solvent-based two-part varnish and seems to be the cheapest on the market (important for a Scotsman!).

I feel especially pleased with the result because my gaps between the planks are much tighter than was achieved elsewhere by professional installers!"
